Sounds of Class

Last night we went to UTD (University of Texas at Dallas) and hung out at Sounds of Class. Shay, Audrey and Sam came along and we had the BEST time. The UTD students put on a fair and teach the kids all kinds of science stuff, math things and just fun games. The Richardson symphony also put on a show and there was fireworks at the end. We took a blanket and a picnic dinner and just hung out and relaxed.

Feels So Good!

Today I put the camera in my hand and went out and took some pictures of one of my favorite subjects....Katie. It felt so good to be out with my camera taking pictures. The thrill of coming home to Photoshop had my heart beating at a quicker pace than usual. It has been so long. The nice part was we didn't have to go far to scout out the great location. All of the pictures were taken by the lake right across the street from my mom's house. Here are some of my favorites from the day.

Yummy!

Katie and I have been dying to try out this new little place off of Lebanon and the Tollway called The Cupcakery. Boy was it a mistake stopping by today. I think I will now crave their cupcakes everyday. I guess this is the first store in Texas as the other two are in Viva Las Vegas. Anyway Katie got a cupcake called "Tickle Me Pink" and I got one called "Oh My Gosh something" Both were absolutely fabulous. They are pretty proud of their cupcakes when it comes to pricing them but well worth it every now and then for a treat.

Katie really getting into her cupcake!

Nice cupcake teeth!

Quick Update

Sorry it has been a while since my last post. Both Katie and I have been busy with our new daily schedules. Third grade is off to a great start for Katie. She adores her teacher this year and is already getting good grades on her work....no surprise there. I am enjoying my position as a special ed aide at Griffin middle school. The kids are sweet and I feel as if I am somewhat making a difference for those who have a hard time learning. Katie is still riding and loving it. Big plans to go to the barn this weekend if the weather will hold out for us. This crazy gusty wind was not kind to our riding plans for the week. Well, I said quick update so that is it!

Third Grade Already?

Today was Katie's first day of third grade. I seriously can not believe that she is in the third grade already. Her teacher this year is Mrs. Honderich and she is the best teacher! Katie also has a great class and knows alot of her classmates already. This year's first day outfit came from a little boutique in East Texas. I went shopping with my friends and saw it and thought of Katie right away. I think the outfit is very "Sharpay" from High School Musical. Here are some pictures from this morning.

Lakehouse Fun

Katie and I were invited to spend the night at the lake with the Damaske family on Friday night. We had so much fun. The weather started off rather rough....major rain all the way there...lots of water in the jeep (but that's another story). However, after a couple of hours the clouds moved off and we had a fun time on the boat enjoying the great weather. The kids had a blast riding on the water torpedo and the tube. Katie found a praying mantis (her fav bug) and provided everyone with lots of entertainment with it. After that we went for a ride on the golf cart and we saw a huge praying mantis...ok so it wasn't real but cool anyway! We had yummy grilled chicken for dinner and made smores out by the fire for dessert. Lots and lots of pictures were taken and it was so hard to pick the best ones....so here are alot of pictures.

Still Working On It

So I'm sorry that I have yet to post the circus pictures. I am still working on them. I didn't take my good camera...big mistake. I only took the little Nikon and the pictures were horrible because I couldn't really change alot of settings so they are dark and grainy! Drives me crazy. I have also been busy trying to get a job and I did!!! I am going to be working at Griffin Middle School in The Colony as an aide. Doesn't pay much but I am using it as a stepping stone this year to hopefully get my own classroom next year. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Anyway, Katie and I are going to the lake this weekend with Shay and the kids. Should be loads of fun and I am taking my good camera for lots of pictures. I also hope to do some improvements with the blog. Check out my new slideshow to the right of some of my favorite photos!!!
